A community of faith open to all

Our Lady of Guadalupe Sanctuary is a place of faith, prayer and encounter in the heart of Carson, California. We serve communities throughout Southern Los Angeles —including Compton, Torrance, Gardena, Hawthorne and Long Beach— offering Holy Mass, the sacraments and the warmth of a true parish family.

We are located near the 405 Freeway and have parking, so it is easy to join us. Under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, we open our doors to everyone seeking God, regardless of their background or language.

Our identity

Old Catholic tradition

Catholic faith

We uphold Catholic beliefs and valid sacramental rites, within the Old Catholic tradition, independent from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Trained priests

Our priests were trained in a Catholic seminary —theology, liturgy and pastoral care— and serve the community with vocation and experience.

Valid sacraments

Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation are celebrated according to the teachings and discipline of the Catholic Church and are fully valid.

Our bishop

Most Rev. John A. Rinaldi

Our bishop guides and sustains the sacramental life of the Sanctuary. Under his authority the sacrament of Confirmation is conferred, through the laying on of hands and anointing, ensuring full communion with the Catholic Church.

His pastoral ministry is a sign of unity and apostolic continuity for our community.

Ministers

At the service of the community

A team of priests, catechists and volunteers makes the life of the Sanctuary possible: the liturgy, catechism, events and the accompaniment of families. Would you like to serve with us?
